This week marks World Immunisation Week, celebrating the life saving power of vaccines and how they protect people of all ages against more than 30 life threatening, preventable diseases.

Why vaccination matters
For over 200 years, vaccines have protected generation after generation, turning diseases once feared by families into illnesses that are now rare. In the last 50 years alone, they’ve saved over 150 million lives, around 6 lives every minute.

How can you get involved this World Immunisation Week?

• Check that you and your children are up to date with NHS recommended vaccinations
• Use trusted information sources such as the NHS, UKHSA and WHO for accurate, evidence based advice
• If you’re unsure or have concerns, speak to a GP, nurse or pharmacist – they can provide personalised, up to date guidance
•  Support others to book or attend appointments
• Talk openly about vaccination to help normalise it- sharing why you chose to vaccinate can be powerful
• Share responsibly- if you post on social media this week, use trusted sources and avoid amplifying unverified claims

Vaccination protects not just individuals, but our whole community- especially babies, older adults and those most vulnerable. Let’s take this week to celebrate vaccines and the everyday choices that keep us all healthy.
